Come have Adventures in Agriculture

Adventures in Agriculture will be held on April 9th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lane Agri-Park in Murfreesboro. The Lane Agri-Park is located at 315 John Rice Boulevard, just past Sam’s Club and beside PAWS. The goal is to educate the community about local agriculture. We accomplish this by having farmers there to share their knowledge of animals, crops, foods, handmade products and more. Admission is FREE and open to the public of all ages. We do request donations of non-perishable foods that will be donated for the schools’ backpack program. The list of items includes single serve chili with beans, beef and macaroni, beef stew, beans and franks, spaghetti and meatballs (with pop top cans), single serve microwaveable mac and cheese, fruit cups, juice boxes, single serve cereal, crackers and granola bars. Please help us feed those in need!

This event, hosted by members and partners of the Rutherford County agriculture community including sponsorship by Farm Bureau, provides many hands-on activities to teach families about agriculture’s impact on our everyday lives. The first 20 teachers within Rutherford County, with a current teacher ID who register will receive a $20 gift certificate to a local teacher’s store and other teaching resources free of charge!

Adventures in Agriculture has something for everyone. Children can pick up a passport to have stamped as they pass through the exhibits and then receive a prize when completed and turned in. Children of all ages can play “My American Farm” in our computer lab, take a trip through Lil Acres or experience riding a tractor and harvesting crops in the Ag Simulator. In addition, we will have live animal exhibits, food for sale, gardening, honey bees and more. Opportunities to learn heritage skills are available such as butter making, spinning yarn or quilting. Parents may want to connect with Master Gardeners and learn how to grow their own vegetables in a backyard or container garden, no matter how much (or how little) room you have. Come and join us for an exciting and informative FREE family fun day for all ages!
