Katie Schmeltzer is co-owner of Southern Homes Real Estate and loves guiding her clients through the process of real estate. As a mom of three boys, when she isn’t working with clients, Katie is busy keeping up with her family.

Prior to embarking in a real estate career, Schmeltzer was a teacher. During her down- time, she loves running and has previously competed in the Ragnar Relay. She’s married to Andy Schmeltzer; their boys are Ryne, Greer and Hayes.

Schmeltzer, who has been in the business for 13 years, loves interacting with people and aims to be intentional every step of the way and always make the client the priority. One thing many folks may not realize about real estate is how much of an emotional process it can be.

“Clients might be buying their first home, downsizing from the home they raised their children in, or selling a parent’s estate,” she said, adding her number one piece of advice in this market is for a client to know their numbers. “Knowledge is power! It’s also so very important to hire the right real estate professional.”

She recommends clients study how much they can afford, what is needed for a down payment and what closing costs will be.
