Story and photography by Joyce Taylor
Over the last several years, thousands of free medical services and procedures have been provided through Saint Thomas Health’s Medical Missions at Home. These daylong community health events provide needed primary and specialty care with services including: Behavioral medicine, dentistry, foot and wound care, mammograms, prescriptions at no cost provided by the Dispensary of Hope, and vision services.
On April 28, a crowd gathered at Holloway High School to receive this free health care. Many of the staff of Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital were on hand to provide their services, as well as volunteer dentists, and others who simply wanted to assist in this great cause. In addition to their medical care, those who attended received 60 pounds of fresh food, as well as a lunch of hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and fruit. We’re fortunate to have the wonderful health care provided by Saint Thomas Rutherford where “nothing shall be impossible.”
