Main Street Murfreesboro Celebrates 40 Years

Local leaders and businesses who have contributed to the vitality of downtown Murfreesboro were recognized during Main Street Murfreesboro’s 40th Anniversary celebration.

 

Anne Davis was the recipient of the Doug Young Leadership Award. Davis was instrumental in helping start the “Main Street” program. Two local businesses were recognized for revitalizing historic properties in the downtown district. The Velvet Room Speakeasy, owned by Crystal and Daniel Creach, and One of Nineteen Cocktails and Raw Bar, owned by Christy and Shawn Hackinson, were awarded the Main Street Design Award.

 

Thirteen long-standing business that have been operating in the historic district for decades were honored with the “Stood the Test of Time” award. Sarah Callender, Main Street Executive Director, said “These businesses represent the heart and soul of our historic downtown.”
